NEW YORK ATTORNEY GENERAL ANTI-TRUST TICKETING PROBE MAY LEAD TO BIG TROUBLE FOR THE NFL

“With Super Bowl 50 fast approaching, New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman has released a damning report entitled, “Obstructed View: What’s Blocking New Yorkers from Getting Tickets”, which asserts that the National Football League has potentially committed anti-trust violations when it comes to pricing tickets.

More specifically, the NFL has been accused of price fixing through an intricate system called the “Ticket Exchange.” This exchange is, in theory, supposed to allow fans to resell game tickets for whatever value the market reflects. However Schneiderman’s investigation asserts that the NFL manipulates the price floor of resale tickets and has thus been artificially keeping game tickets at significantly higher rates, pushing many consumers out of the market.”
